About The Position

Under general supervision, Parks Maintenance Worker II's perform semi-skilled and skilled duties in the maintenance and repair of City landscapes and equipment and may provide limited work direction to other workers or helpers. The current vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works. Immediate and future vacancies will be filled from this eligible list for a period of three (3) months from the date the eligible list is created, with the option of extending that period at the City's discretion. If the examination process is suspended for this recruitment, the eligible list may be limited to three (3) months.

Requirements

Possession of a High School Diploma or equivalent GED completion.
Two (2) years of full-time paid experience performing work related to parks or grounds maintenance.
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License is required at the time of application and continued maintenance throughout the entire term of employment in the classification.

Responsibilities

Plants and renovates lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers, grounds and related landscape features.
Operates properly, light trucks, gang mowers, dingo’s and other power driven equipment.
Controls weeds; applies fungicides, herbicides, and pesticides for control of harmful disease and insects.
Installs, modifies, maintains, and repairs manual and automatic sprinkler systems.
Estimates labor and materials required; keeps time and material records and prepares simple reports.
