About The Position

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Metro District is seeking a Parks Maintenance Technician (I, II, or III) for a regular full-time, non-exempt position. This role involves performing a wide variety of skilled maintenance duties to ensure District parks, athletic fields, trails, open spaces, playgrounds, facilities, and public amenities are safe, clean, attractive, and well-maintained. Responsibilities include turf maintenance, athletic field preparation, park and facility maintenance, equipment operation, construction projects, and snow removal. Requirements

  • Applicants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age at the time of hire.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License with acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to work a 40-hour week, including evenings, early mornings, and weekends as required.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, lift and move up to 50 pounds, and adapt to changing schedules.
  • Technician I: Six (6) months of parks maintenance, grounds maintenance, construction, facilities maintenance, or related experience preferred.
  • Technician I: Must obtain Flagger Certification and CPR/First Aid/AED Certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • Technician II: Minimum of two (2) years of parks maintenance, grounds maintenance, facilities maintenance, construction, or related experience.
  • Technician II: Must demonstrate the ability to independently perform the full range of parks maintenance duties within one (1) year.
  • Technician II: Must initiate a Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certificate within one (1) year and complete within eighteen (18) months of hire.
  • Technician II: Must initiate a Colorado Certified Operator Pesticide Applicator License in Turf and Ornamentals within one (1) year and complete within eighteen (18) months of hire.
  • Technician III: Two (2) years of experience as a KCRMD Parks Maintenance Technician II or four (4) years of equivalent parks maintenance experience, including two (2) years of snow removal experience.
  • Technician III: Advanced knowledge in at least three of the following areas: irrigation, mowing, turf, athletics, horticulture, or general maintenance.
  • Technician III: Must obtain Flagger Certification and CPR/First Aid/AED Certification within one (1) year of hire.
  • Technician III: Must initiate a Certified Playground Safety Inspector Certificate within one (1) year and complete within eighteen (18) months of hire.
  • Technician III: Must initiate a Colorado Department of Agriculture Qualified Supervisor Pesticide Applicator License in Turf and Ornamentals within one (1) year and complete within eighteen (18) months of hire.
  • Must maintain insurability through the District’s carrier by upholding an acceptable driving record.
  • Must obtain and maintain all certifications as outlined by Technician level.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of District parks and facilities within six (6) months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance of District parks, greenbelts, athletic fields, trails, playgrounds, facilities, and public spaces.
  • Prepare and maintain athletic fields for practices, games, and tournaments.
  • Inspect, repair, and maintain playground equipment, park amenities, picnic shelters, fencing, benches, signs, bollards, trash receptacles, and other District infrastructure.
  • Perform custodial duties including cleaning and maintaining public restrooms, shelters, pavilions, and other District facilities as assigned.
  • Perform concrete removal and finishing, drainage, trail, fencing, playground, landscape, and construction improvement projects.
  • Perform snow and ice removal from sidewalks, trails, parking lots, parks, and District facilities.
  • Safely operate and maintain a variety of equipment including commercial mowers, tractors, skid steers, loaders, dump trucks, backhoes, trenchers, snowplows, bucket trucks, stump grinders, woodchippers, chainsaws, utility vehicles, and hand and power tools.
  • Assist with special events, emergency response, and other departmental projects.
  • Lead, train, and monitor seasonal staff in maintenance procedures, equipment operation, and safety practices (Technician II and III).
  • Provide excellent customer service to residents and respond professionally to public inquiries.
