About The Position

The City of O'Fallon is seeking a skilled and motivated Parks Maintenance Supervisor to oversee the day‑to‑day operations, maintenance, and repair of our parks system. This role plays a key part in supporting safe, attractive, and well-maintained spaces that enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Requirements

  • Principles of athletic, passive, and nature park maintenance
  • Lake management practices
  • Human resources and risk management principles
  • Equipment operation, repair, and maintenance
  • Building codes, ADA requirements, and construction principles
  • Relevant local, state, and federal laws
  • City purchasing policies and procedures
  • Herbicide and pesticide application principles for turf management
  • Skill in preparing clear, accurate reports
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with computers and job‑related software
  • Excellent interpersonal and team‑building skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Specialized training or education equivalent to knowledge commonly gained through a bachelor's-level program
  • Five or more years of related experience, including supervisory experience
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Missouri Class A CDL (paid training availalble)
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, prioritize, and coordinate the work of park maintenance personnel
  • Assist with hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining staff
  • Manage daily park operations and support hands‑on maintenance activities
  • Maintain and update the division's Operations Manual and ensure its use as a training tool
  • Prepare and manage chemical and fertilization programs
  • Oversee and coordinate maintenance and repair of irrigation systems
  • Provide input on budget development and support bidding and purchasing
  • Assist with conceptual plans, cost estimates, and procurement for park projects
  • Oversee maintenance, repairs, new construction, and emergency repair needs
  • Enforce safety policies, procedures, and compliance standards
  • Inspect playgrounds, bleachers, and park amenities, coordinating repairs as needed
  • Supervise and participate in snow removal operations
  • Assist with setup for festivals and special events
  • Monitor vendor and contractor performance
  • Coordinate annual athletic field maintenance
  • Manage scheduling for weekend and tournament staff coverage
  • Coordinate routine equipment maintenance; diagnose issues and recommend repairs
  • Respond to after‑hours emergencies
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
