About The Position

This posting is for temporary, seasonal positions within the Ingham County Parks system for the Fall and Winter seasons. Applications are accepted until sufficient qualified applications are received or a qualified candidate is identified, and the position may close at any time. Available positions include parks maintenance, ski and snow tube rental, and concessions. Parks maintenance roles involve routine upkeep of park grounds, buildings, and equipment, enforcing park rules, and assisting the public. Specific roles include Park Ranger (Fall and Winter), Parking Booth Attendant, Ski Rental Attendant, Snow Tubing Hill Rental Attendant, and Snack Bar Attendant.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License.
Must have dependable transportation.
Must be physically able to walk various types of terrain.
Must be able to handle exposure to all types of weather.
Must be able to walk and stand for long periods.
Must have the physical capacity to lift weights in excess of 50 pounds.
Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with the public.
Demonstrates effective communication skills by engaging, interacting and working with all individuals to ensure clarity and understanding in all interactions.
Must be able to handle money confidently and make change accurately.

Nice To Haves

An excellent driving record is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance on park grounds, buildings, and equipment.
Enforce park rules and regulations.
Provide assistance to the public.
Perform trail and grounds maintenance work.
Conduct larger scale projects leading into winter maintenance.
Perform light construction work (Rangers).
Collect daily parking fees and handle money accurately (Parking Booth Attendants, Rangers).
Supervise the public using winter sports facilities (Winter Rangers).
Assist in snow removal (Winter Rangers).
Operate the ski rental program (Ski Rental Attendants).
Perform rental and repair of ski equipment (Ski Rental Attendants).
Operate the snow tubing lift and rental program (Snow Tubing Hill Rental Attendants).
Operate a small food concession, including food preparation and cleanup (Snack Bar Attendant).
Perform other tasks related to the operation of winter sports areas.
