About The Position

The primary purpose of this position is to maintain the Municipality of Anchorage park land and facilities in a safe and usable condition for the public to enjoy. Performs routine park maintenance under general supervision. Leads Parks Caretaker I positions to clean up illegal camps and store personal belongings as needed. The duties of this position focus on homeless camp cleanup. While utilizing safe work practices, remove trash, debris, and waste to restore Municipal property to usable conditions. Dispose of removed articles in a safe and sanitary manner. Other duties may include litter collection, snow and ice removal, trail maintenance, general grounds and facility cleaning and repair. The duties require the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, take initiative and direct the work of lower-level staff on projects or on a daily basis. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • One (1) year experience as a Parks Caretaker I or the equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid State of Alaska Driver's License with satisfactory driving record at time of hire.
  • Legally authorized to work and accept employment in the United States.
  • Satisfactory Municipal Employment Office conducted Background Check (encompassing criminal history, verifying education, and verifying dates of employment).
  • Successfully complete a drug screening prior to beginning work.
  • Submission of a current copy of the applicant's Alaska Driver's License, and a current (dated within 30 days from date requested) copy of his/her Department of Motor Vehicle driving record, including a driving record from previous states, if the Alaska Driver's License was first issued within one year prior to application, documenting an acceptable driving history.
  • All required certifications and/or licenses must remain current for the duration of employment.
