About The Position

Love the outdoors and have a knack for numbers? Clay County is seeking a skilled and dedicated Parks Assistant! You’ll be the backbone of our park operations, ensuring everything from the marina to the campgrounds runs smoothly. This role is perfect for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys a mix of administrative precision and public interaction. The Parks Assistant supports the operational and financial functions of the Parks Office, Campgrounds, and Marinas. This role is responsible for overseeing revenue collection, preparing daily deposits, reconciling financial reports, managing reservation systems, and providing excellent customer service to the public.

Requirements

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent with specialized course work in general office practices such as typing, filing, accounting and bookkeeping.
  • Tech Savvy: Proficiency in MS Office and the ability to master our camping reservation system.
  • Accounting Basics: Knowledge of record-keeping and accounting principles to keep our reporting accurate.
  • Communication Pro: Exceptional skills in both oral and written communication for interacting with staff and the public.
  • Organized & Adaptable: Ability to plan your workday independently while following park rules and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Stewardship: Manage daily deposits, reconcile bank/credit statements, and track revenue for the Parks Office, Marina, and Campgrounds.
  • Operational Support: Prepare assignments for Fee Collectors, print camping tags, and ensure our field staff and Camp Hosts have the supplies they need to succeed.
  • Public Liaison: Be the face (and voice) of the park! Answer phone inquiries, assist visitors in person, and manage our online Park Chat and Exchange.
  • Team Leadership: Assist in training temporary staff and help manage essential paperwork like time cards and injury reports.
