About The Position

Acts as a visible presence in Town parks, athletic fields, public tennis and pickleball courts, and other parks and recreational properties under the jurisdiction of the Parks and Recreation Department — promoting public safety, protecting natural resources, ensuring appropriate park & field use, and providing information and assistance to visitors. This is a seasonal position, working approximately 15 - 25 hours per work, from March – early December. The schedule includes weekends and variable hours depending on operational needs.

Requirements

High School Diploma
Experience dealing with the public in a variety of customer service and rule enforcement circumstances.
First Aid, CPR and AED certification required (training provided if needed).
Must possess valid driver's license.
Proven ability to communicate effectively.
Proven ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain professionalism in all public interactions.
Proven ability to work independently and follow established patrol routines.
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays to meet operational needs.

Responsibilities

Patrols Town parks, athletic fields, public tennis and pickleball courts, and other outdoor Town recreational areas by vehicle and on foot; follows a daily itinerary and patrol routine that may vary depending on operational needs.
Acts as a public information source and provides visitor assistance, ensuring positive public relations.
Monitors park usage and identify irregularities, including vandalism, violation of wildlife protection rules, excessive litter, non-permitted organized activities, or misuse of facilities.
Communicates any observed potential hazards, equipment damage or misuse of equipment to appropriate personnel.
Checks and verifies that areas are being used by the correct individuals or groups with proper permits and passes.
Enforces ordinances, park rules, and regulations to ensure safe and appropriate use of public spaces.
Interacts with individuals and groups as needed regarding field use, rules, and regulations; requests assistance from law enforcement if escalated or unsafe situations arise.
Issues warnings and documentation when warranted and provides copies to supervisors in the Parks and Recreation Department.
Opens and closes park facilities as assigned.
Assists with reporting weather and field conditions as needed.
Performs other related duties as required.
