About The Position

This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference. SG 5 Hiring Rate $35,496. This position includes location pay of $4,000 per year. The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation. Resume/CV and cover letter should be included with the online application. For this position, we are unable to sponsor candidates for work visas. This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such are required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, speak and understand English.
  • Must have, keep and maintain the appropriate valid NYS Driver's License.
  • Must have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations.
  • Ability to remain courteous and tactful in stressful situations.
  • Requires working in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to perform mandatory overtime.
  • Out-of-State Applicants: Please note as a condition of employment and in order for this position to be tendered, the successful incumbent will be required to provide evidence of a valid license and driving abstract from the state issuing the license within five business days of a conditional offer and must obtain a NYS driver's license within 30 days of official start date.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols parking areas to identify vehicles in violation of campus parking rules and regulations, and issue campus summons, as well as the towing and booting of vehicles in violation.
  • Provide assistance to the campus community, including but not limited to jump starts of disabled vehicles, Slim Jim ' s to unlock vehicle doors, air for deflated tires and transportation to a service station for gasoline.
  • Provides traffic and parking control for campus events. This includes setting up barriers and blocking off roadways and parking areas.
  • Reports all roadway safety problems and signage issues to Parking Enforcement Supervisor; and maintains records of parking spaces on campus and periodically conducts parking space counts.
  • Completes necessary paperwork to immobilize and release vehicles as necessary.
  • Transports individuals from the Parking Office to the impound lot to facilitate the release of vehicles.
  • Other duties or projects as assigned as appropriate to rank and departmental mission.
