About The Position

The Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is seeking a Parking Meter Collector to support curbside parking operations. This role involves the maintenance of the Denver parking meter fleet, asset management, and assisting other teams with permitting and large events. Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
  • None (experience requirement).
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry 50 to 100 pounds safely.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including experience with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to walk, stand, and perform physical duties for up to six hours per day.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling cash, documentation, deposit records and time management.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, effective communication, and a customer-focused approach when interacting with coworkers, stakeholders, and members of the public.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required as a condition of employment.
  • Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
  • Must have valid work authorization that does not require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Collects coin canisters from parking meters along established routes and deposits them into the collection cart canister.
  • Performs routine maintenance on parking meter vaults, locking mechanisms, canisters, and collection carts; resets meter revenue-tracking software memory.
  • Identifies and documents parking meters requiring repair beyond routine maintenance, records issues, and submits repair requests to the supervisor for maintenance technician follow-up.
  • Prepares daily work reports and related documentation, ensuring accuracy of collection canisters, identification tags, route numbers, vehicle information, and bank deposit forms.
  • Operates a collection vehicle along designated routes to collect meter revenue and make bank deposits.
  • Adheres to all safety practices and procedures, maintaining environmental and spatial awareness at all times.
  • Ensures parking meters are covered or uncovered in accordance with permits.
  • Employees may be re-deployed to work in other capacities in their own agencies or in other City agencies to support core functions of the City during a City-wide emergency declared by the Mayor.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
