The City of Greensboro is seeking a Parking Enforcement Specialist who is professional, approachable, and committed to serving the community. As a front-line ambassador for the City, you’ll interact directly with residents, visitors, and businesses while helping people navigate Greensboro, understand parking requirements, and comply with City parking ordinances. This role combines public service, education, enforcement, and traffic support in a highly visible position throughout the community. Parking Enforcement Specialists play an important role in supporting orderly parking, improving access throughout the City, and providing citizens with helpful information while consistently applying parking regulations. Educate and Assist: Provide directions and explain parking ordinances and applicable regulations to help people better understand City requirements. As a Parking Enforcement Specialist, you will: Enforce City parking ordinances throughout Greensboro. Mark vehicles and document parking times as required. Read and monitor parking meters. Issue parking citations for violations. Photograph parking violations and maintain accurate documentation. Coordinate the towing or booting of vehicles when appropriate. Complete required paperwork, reports, and enforcement documentation. Assist with traffic control when requested. Provide directions and assistance to residents, visitors, and others navigating the City. Explain City parking ordinances and North Carolina General Statutes related to disabled parking. Operate motor vehicles, hand-held computers, cell phones, and chalk sticks as part of daily duties. Interact professionally with members of the public, including individuals who may be upset or irate. Work effectively as part of a team while managing time pressures and a sometimes noisy or distracting environment. Wear a departmentally issued uniform and maintain a professional appearance while representing the City. Perform extensive outdoor work in weather conditions ranging from mild to extreme. Report to work during inclement weather as required. Parking Enforcement Specialists are considered essential personnel and may be required to work during extreme weather conditions. Perform physical activities including standing, extensive walking, carrying, reaching, handling, fine dexterity, bending, twisting, climbing, balancing, and frequent use of vision, hearing, and verbal communication.
