About The Position

Under general supervision, the Parking Enforcement Officer enforces parking regulations, patrols campus parking facilities, supports traffic and parking operations for special events, provides motorist assistance, and responds to public inquiries. The incumbent utilizes parking enforcement technology, coordinates parking-related activities, and promotes a safe and efficient campus environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of related experience.
  • Possession of a California Driver’s License.
  • Working knowledge of applicable procedures and regulations related to parking and traffic control.
  • Ability to understand and apply a variety of laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of applicable radio codes.
  • Ability to independently make effective decisions and judgments in emergency situations.
  • Ability to analyze parking operational issues and recommend procedural changes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with campus community and applicable public agencies.
  • Ability to convey clear, concise communications and directions and conduct training for staff and the campus community.

Responsibilities

  • Enforces parking rules and regulations. Patrols parking facilities on bikes, foot, electrically assisted mobile devices, and vehicles to observe automobiles, motorcycles, commercial vehicles, and other vehicles for parking violations.
  • Utilizes License Plate Recognition (LPR) equipment to identify scofflaws. Arranges for immobilization and/or towing of scofflaws. Locates lost, stolen and counterfeit permits and takes necessary enforcement action.
  • Performs duties related to the planning and coordination of parking programs such as parking and safety coordination for campus special events and commencement ceremonies. Provides traffic control and equipment set up for special events.
  • Coordinates campus parking functions, projects, and programs, including parking permits, signage, and traffic control. Analyzes parking operation issues and recommends changes.
  • Provides motorist assistance with lockouts and jumpstarts to visitors, students, faculty, and staff as needed on campus. Assists the public with directions and summons help or other assistance as necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
