About The Position

As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Parking Enforcement Agent to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by consistently addressing parking violations, tracking and monitoring traffic and parking challenges, communicating parking policies in a patient and informative manner. The Parking Enforcement Agent is a self-starter who will monitor campus parking trends and personally address violations daily.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University
  • Adheres to Marian University’s policies and procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and basic data-entry skills.
  • Shows courtesy and respect in interactions with fellow employees, students subordinates, and supervisors
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid state driver’s license with excellent driving record.
  • Ability to safely operate campus shuttle van and standard vehicle.
  • Work hours necessary to perform job requirements satisfactorily on a regular basis.
  • Manage absence from work in responsible manner to ensure service to clients, work teams, and coworkers.
  • Comply with Marian University policies and practices and seeking clarification of them when necessary.
  • The employee is regularly required to sit; use their hands to handle or feel objects, equipment, or controls; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with their hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity, leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies.
  • Patrol assigned lots and zones, identify parking violations, and place citations on vehicle windshields.
  • Record and maintain violation data using handheld devices, computer, or paper logs; submit daily reports.
  • Operate campus shuttle some hours each day as scheduled.
  • Provide customer service, answer parking-related questions, and refer appeals to Parking Services or Police as appropriate.
  • Conduct routine vehicle and equipment checks for police vehicles and van; report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Other duties assigned by the Chief of Police.
