About The Position

Incumbent performs duties associated with Urban Services Division parking operations with regard to dispatching Parking Enforcement Officers. Associated duties include: dispatching officers to enable the enforcement of parking codes and ordinances, receive incoming calls and emails related to parking complaints and respond to inquiries from the public. Operates telephone, radio, and various computer software systems. All incumbents serve in a position of trust and are required to maintain a high level of personal and professional integrity while providing substantial customer service to both external & internal customers, including vendors. Part-time scheduled work hours will be: Saturday from 7am to 3:30pm, Sunday from 7am to 3:30pm, and Monday from 3pm to 11:30pm. This position will be scheduled to work no more than 28 hours per week. Not eligible for a hybrid work schedule. About the Team: The Public Services Urban Services Division enhances the safety and accessibility for residents and visitors of Salt Lake City by ensuring ordinances and laws are observed to keep people safe. They also help keep public spaces like downtown, Sugar House, and North Temple clean and well-maintained. Applicants for roles within the Urban Services Division can expect to maintain a high level of personal and professional integrity while providing customer service to the public and internal customers.

Requirements

  • Graduation from high school or GED.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license or Utah driving privilege card.
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public and demonstrate outstanding customer service skills.
  • Ability to constantly meet performance objectives in support of City’s goals and objectives.
  • Ability to safely operate vehicles such as jeeps, tow trucks and/or forklifts.
  • Ability to ride a bicycle for extended periods of time may be required.
  • Ability to make safety decisions and work in the public way.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and write legibly, and maintain accurate records.
  • The ability to use a computer and computer applications such as MS Office as well as ticketing and work management systems for the input/retrieval of data and reports.
  • Ability to maintain, uphold and control the integrity of secure informational databases on an operational need-to-know basis only.
  • Proven ability completing duties while following safety requirements and integrating safety concerns into daily operations

Responsibilities

  • Dispatches officers, explains parking code violations and ordinances to citizens and resolves citizen complaints over the phone.
  • Logs complaints and accurately documents officer actions in the field.
  • Monitors requests from the public, including meter baggings.
  • Provides a significant level of customer service to the public to include determining parking complaint prioritization and conflict resolution.
  • Reports suspicious activity to the proper agency throughout the city.
  • Serves as an ambassador for Salt Lake City, helping citizens & visitors with questions, concerns, and issues related to parking and general information.
  • Coordinates enforcement activities with various city departments.
  • Participates as part of an overall enforcement team and contributes positively towards team performance goals.
  • Completes all required documentation and reporting related to operational needs.
  • Accesses secure databases and inputs data as required for official operational purposes.
  • Maintains the integrity of secure informational databases and limits access on a need-to-know basis only.
  • Complies with all City, Public Services Department and Urban Services Division policies and procedures.
  • Participates in all aspects of disaster preparedness training & drills and is available to support the city as needed during extreme & disaster events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
