This position works the Front desk and greets visitors, makes reservations, registers and checks out campers and cabin guests, assists visitors during their stay, and provides information to the public. Job duties include operating a cash register, selling merchandise, completing cash reports, handling transactions and paperwork related to cabins and campsites, stocking shelves, answering phones, providing information and assistance, light cleaning and other duties as assigned. Excellent public relations skills are a must. A criminal background check is required. Position works on weekends and holidays. This is an Extra Help position and pays $15.33 per hour. As this position is the first point of contact people will have with the park, professional phone skills are needed. The Arkansas Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism has three major divisions: Arkansas State Parks, Arkansas Heritage and Arkansas Tourism. Arkansas State Parks manages 52 state parks and promotes Arkansas as a tourist destination for people around the country. Arkansas Heritage preserves and promotes Arkansas’s natural and cultural history and heritage through four historic museums and four cultural preservation agencies. Arkansas Tourism improves the state’s economy by generating travel and enhancing the image of the state.
