About The Position

Anastasia State Park seeks a positive, outgoing, creative, self-motivated park service professional to serve as Park Services Specialist, providing visitor services, maintenance, protection, administration, and resource management. This position requires a high-energy, dedicated, innovative individual who is committed to protecting and interpreting Florida’s natural and cultural resources. Incumbents must have experience in special event planning and execution, volunteer management, and public speaking. The incumbent will be primary point-of-contact on weekends. Housing available; Mobile home-3bd/2bth.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining good public relations
  • Carrying out a public information program
  • Developing and implementing a comprehensive volunteer program
  • Organizing and implementing special events, visitor service programs, and professional training programs for the park
  • Establishing and maintaining resource management activities
  • Designing and organizing volunteer recruitment, special events and service programs
  • Monitoring and defining suitable park volunteer needs
  • Planning and conducting volunteer orientation and training sessions
  • Serving as liaison with the Department of Corrections inmate labor program
  • Organizing and coordinating inmate labor assignments to improve value of services for the park
  • Providing research development and coordination of a park information program, including preparation of newspaper articles, public service announcements, photos and other materials to optimize media coverage of the park
  • Cultivating positive media relations and promotes media interests, broadcast and print
  • Planning and conducting community outreach activities to expand public understanding of the Florida Park Service resource management and protection objectives
  • Representing the park and Florida Park Service to outside agencies and organizations, disseminating information and promoting outdoor recreational opportunities provided by the park
  • Providing research planning, coordination and conducting the interpretation of the natural cultural resources within the park, including guided walks, campfire programs, tours recreation skills programs and special events
  • Researching the history of a division facility, both cultural and natural and develops plans for restoration and implementation
  • Serving as liaison between park and District Park Programs Development Specialist and Education and Training Specialist
  • Providing research, development and library of funding sources for the park via corporate/foundation and public support entities
  • Designing and implementing public marketing relations program to encourage corporate/foundation and private support of the park
  • Planning, organizing and conducting in-service training programs to meet the needs of the park's employees
  • Participating in planning and conducting resource management activities by implementing resource management techniques required to manage and restore natural communities
  • Performing other related parking duties as assigned
