About The Position

CWI Works is recruiting for a Park Ranger Interpreter position within the Experience Service Program (ESP) that provides support to the United States Department of the Interior, National Parks Services (NPS), National Capital Parks-East in Ft. Washington, MD. This is a part-time position working 24 hours per week for a 2-month project.

Requirements

  • Must be 55 years of age or older
  • Eligible to work in the United States
  • Able to pass a Federal Background check
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Must feel comfortable in public speaking
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Interact well with people from all areas within the agency
  • Able to participate in fieldwork
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service
  • Operate the visitor center and bookstore
  • Give interpretive tours of Fort Washington to the public
  • Lead guided programs/tours
  • Conduct special research projects
  • Give educational programs to schoolchildren
  • Staff a visitor center and orient the public to a historic site
  • Develop the park’s digital presence and enhance websites and Facebook posts
  • Represent the National Park Service
  • Perform other duties required to support the operation of the division
