About The Position

Bring your skills and energy to keeping our parks safe, welcoming, and beautiful! This role is hands-on and diverse - you'll operate trucks, mowers, and other light maintenance equipment while also taking on repair and upkeep tasks across park grounds and facilities. Whether it's maintaining picnic areas, supporting seasonal needs like snow removal or ice preparation, or teaming up with other divisions, you'll play a key part in ensuring our community spaces are well cared for. Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with no suspensions or revocations within the past three years or the ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hiring.
  • One-year experience in streets, parks, utility or construction maintenance.
  • Possession of a valid Minnesota Commercial Pesticide Applicator License A & E or ability to obtain the licensing within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and practices used in park maintenance.
  • Operates and maintains park maintenance equipment, tools and vehicles.
  • Knowledge of safety precautions while working with equipment.
  • Knowledge of grounds and turf maintenance, routine equipment and vehicle maintenance.
  • Perform manual labor for extended periods of time; stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, crouch, kneel, reach, push, pull, twist and turn.
  • Lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Work outside throughout the year in all types of weather.
  • Work in loud work environments.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+years of experience in streets, parks, utility or construction maintenance.
  • Experience in the operation and maintenance of equipment utilized by the city.
  • Experience in carpentry and repair of equipment, property and facilities

Responsibilities

  • Maintains the park grounds, picnic/seating areas and facilities
  • Supports the preparation and maintenance of ice by flooding the areas
  • Snow removal
  • Operates equipment for maintenance of required duties
  • Performs routine and light maintenance on vehicles and equipment
  • Maintains required records and reports.
  • Supports City Events by setting up/clean-up of needed materials and equipment
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as are apparent or assigned
