A Park Maintenance Worker II is an experienced level employee who performs technical park maintenance work in addition to leading a crew of skilled and unskilled workers within a municipal park performing technical and routine laboring tasks, driving and operating vehicles which may require a commercial driver’s license, transporting personnel and materials to work sites, as well as, cleaning park areas and maintaining multiple sports fields. The PMW II is responsible for assigning, monitoring and reviewing the work of the lower-level employees at the worksite in addition to assisting with technical training. Incumbents receive moderate supervision from superiors. Employees in this class work a five-day work week that may include weekends and shift work on a rotating basis, and overtime required for emergencies or held over until properly relieved or for emergencies. Work is performed outdoors where incumbents are exposed to such conditions as inclement weather, dust, obnoxious odors, poisonous chemicals, traffic, insect bites, confined spaces, inland waterways, and heights. Work requires strenuous physical activity including frequent bending, stooping, crawling, climbing ladders, reaching for and lifting heavy objects.
