About The Position

The City of Fredericksburg is seeking a dedicated and experienced Park Maintenance Worker for Events to join our team. This position plays a crucial role in the set-up, support, and operation of equipment and facilities for department events as well as event rentals. This role involves transporting and deploying barricade systems, mobile stage units, and rental equipment for city and private events. The staff member will also monitor rental calendars to ensure timely delivery and proper maintenance of amenities, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for public use. This position will clean and maintain rented shelter and park facilities leading up to and following events. Some weekend or evening assistance may be required at the Fredericksburg Farmer’s Market including set up of barricades or other equipment, manning the market tent, and monitoring vendors and attendees.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18.
  • Virginia Drivers License and a clean driving record
  • High School diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Two (2) years previous experience operating various types of landscaping equipment including tractors, mowers, weed eaters, and backpack blowers
  • One (1) year previous experience delivering or assisting in delivery of special events
  • Some basic carpentry and trade-based experience

Responsibilities

  • Transport, deploy, and remove City barricade systems for various public and private events, ensuring safety and proper placement.
  • Transport, set up, and dismantle the Mobile Stage Unit as requested for events, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Monitor the park, shelter, and facility rental calendar to coordinate delivery and setup of requested amenities.
  • Prepare, inventory, and deliver rental equipment such as tables, chairs, and other event supplies.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of facilities, rental equipment, and assigned areas before, during, and after events.
  • Assist with the setup and takedown of event spaces, including barricades and staging equipment.
  • Provide onsite event support during department or city-run events.
  • Work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and evenings
  • Consistent weekend availability mandatory
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
