This posting is for the fulfillment of a Park Maintenance Technician I or a Park Maintenance Technician II position. The position will be filled contingent on the selected candidates' work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and qualifications. The Park Maintenance Technician I performs manual and semi-skilled work and operates light motorized equipment to maintain Roanoke County parks, athletic fields, and facilities. Parks Maintenance Technicians’ tasks may include routine mowing, landscaping, athletic field maintenance, minor facility and equipment repairs, event support, park patrol, cleaning, storm debris removal, and other related duties to support department initiatives. Additionally, all Parks Maintenance Technicians are classified as “Essential Personnel” and may be occasionally required to work extended shifts, nights, weekends, and/or during emergency weather events. The Park Maintenance Technician II performs manual and semi-skilled maintenance tasks and operates light-to-medium sized motorized equipment to maintain Roanoke County parks, athletic fields, and facilities. All Parks Maintenance Technicians’ tasks may include routine mowing, landscaping, athletic field maintenance, minor facility and equipment repairs, event support, park patrol, cleaning, storm debris removal, and other related duties to support department initiatives. Additionally, all Parks Maintenance Technicians are classified as “Essential Personnel” and may be occasionally required to work extended shifts, nights, weekends, and/or during emergency weather events.
