About The Position

This position is within the Grounds Management Division of the Parks and Recreation Department. The Park Maintenance Technician II performs various ground maintenance and repair tasks for the upkeep of City-owned parks, natural spaces, trails, center medians, and rights-of-way. The skills, knowledge, and abilities required for full performance must be acquired prior to assuming the position. This role operates under the direction of an immediate supervisor and may be underfilled as a Park Maintenance Technician I.

Requirements

  • Possession of a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Knowledge of and skill in using and operating various ground maintenance tools and larger equipment including flex-wing mowers and interstater mowers.
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow safe work practices and procedures in the performance of assigned tasks.
  • Skill in performing various ground maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Skill in interpreting and completing standardized forms such as project assignment sheets, pre-trip inspections, work orders, maintenance request forms etc.
  • Ability to follow and give oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work independently, with others, and as a lead worker.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic computations.

Responsibilities

  • Operating assigned vehicles, mowing equipment, and standard gasoline-powered or electrical tools to perform various ground maintenance repair tasks.
  • Following safety and maintenance procedures relating to the proper operation and condition of the assigned equipment or crew.
  • Completing daily work orders, safety reports, and other job-related documentation.
  • Performing work independently and in close proximity to other workers.
  • Performing work in the absence of the front-line supervisor, assuming responsibility for other employees, equipment, and effective completion of projects.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
