About The Position

Seasonal, Non-Exempt. This part-time position offers approximately 24 hours per week outdoors doing general maintenance in the parks. Weekday shifts are typically 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Evening and weekend hours may be required to assist with athletic field preparation, special events, and snow removal operations. The role involves planting trees, maintaining landscaping and athletic fields, assisting with special events, and keeping the parks looking their very best.

Requirements

Must be at least 17 years of age.
Must be in good physical condition with sufficient strength to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Valid Illinois State Drivers License (Class D).

Responsibilities

Perform landscape maintenance operations for the Park District, including athletic field maintenance (baseball infields, soccer fields, football fields, basketball courts, tennis courts) and landscape maintenance (soil grading and preparation, tree plantings, tree trimming, tree watering, mulch bed maintenance, and flower bed maintenance).
Assist Recreation Department requests for set-up, construction, and repair of special event props.
Support the District’s safety initiative including adhering to policies and procedures, performing your job in a safe manner, attending required training, seeking additional training as needed, promptly reporting accidents/incidents, and proactively addressing hazards in the workplace.
