About The Position

Northwest Playground Equipment, Inc. is seeking a Park Consultant for the Montana territory. This family-owned company, established in 1996, specializes in turn-key outdoor play and recreation projects across the Pacific Northwest and beyond. They partner with high-quality manufacturers to offer a range of products including playground equipment, safety surfacing, site furnishings, and interactive play features. This role offers a sales career focused on creating spaces for children and families.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of B2B outside sales experience, ideally in construction, commercial landscape, outdoor recreation, or selling to public agencies.
  • Experience with RFPs, RFQs, and public bids is a strong plus.
  • Comfortable reading construction plans, specifications, and take-offs, or able to learn quickly.
  • Basic understanding of construction processes.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once and prioritize well.
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and quick to learn new systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, communication, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Must live in the Montana territory.
  • Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and a reliable vehicle with current insurance.
  • Able to walk active job sites and uneven terrain, and to carry product samples and trade-show materials.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with RFPs, RFQs, and public bids is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new customers through research, calls, email, site visits, and networking.
  • Attend community meetings, pre-bid meetings, and local events where public-space projects take shape.
  • Conduct discovery conversations and site visits to understand project scope, budget, timeline, and decision-makers.
  • Work with the design team to recommend the right mix of play equipment, surfacing, and amenities.
  • Present proposals and product options in person and virtually.
  • Lead responses to RFPs, RFQs, RFIs, and public bids with support from the quoting team.
  • Keep Salesforce current with leads, opportunities, and activity.
  • Set weekly, monthly, and annual goals, forecast accurately, and report on pipeline in regular sales meetings.
  • Remain the customer’s main point of contact after the sale, working with project and installation teams to resolve issues.
  • Turn completed projects into repeat business and referrals.
  • Monitor competitors to ensure NPEI remains the preferred choice.
  • Attend regional and national trade shows and parks and recreation conferences.
  • Lead lunch-and-learns and presentations for customers and design professionals.
