About The Position

The Park Attendant - Seasonal, under general supervision, operates one of the following activity stations or cash register stations: Rowboats and Canoes, Miniature Golf, Day Use Area Gate House and/or FCA Gate House, and/or Pedal Boat Dock. Employee must use considerable tact and courtesy in frequent contact with the public. The position involves performing light maintenance duties for the park ranger, such as cleaning picnic sites, picking up trash, and assisting in bathhouse cleanups. The role requires knowledge of park and campground rules and the geographical layout of the park. The attendant must deal effectively and firmly with the public, be a self-starter, work alone, and speak with poise, voice control, and confidence. Responsibilities include recording and delivering information, explaining procedures, following instructions, interacting with people, performing under stress, and maintaining high standards of accuracy and efficiency. The attendant must complete assigned work on time, attend work regularly, accept supervisory instruction, offer suggestions for improvement, share knowledge, and contribute to high morale. Interaction with fellow employees, supervisors, professionals, and the public must be effective. Adherence to all safety and housekeeping standards is required, along with maintaining a clean and orderly workplace. The role involves operating small office equipment, including copy machines or multi-line telephone systems, and computers for data entry, word processing, and/or accounting purposes. Additional duties may be assigned based on departmental needs, particularly within Outdoor Recreation, where the attendant may assist with planning, coordinating, and executing outdoor recreation programs, managing volunteers, providing community outreach, and assisting with field trips and summer camps. Housekeeping duties for assigned spaces and vehicles are also part of the role.

  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment and machinery including cash registers, calculators, snack bar equipment, radios, blowers, computers, etc.
  • Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Must be able to exert a moderate amount of force constantly, and up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, to move objects.
  • Requires varying work hours to include nights, weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months of customer service experience or park experience.

Responsibilities

  • Performs light maintenance duties for the park ranger, to include but not limited to, cleaning picnic sites (grills, concrete pad, etc.), picking up trash, assisting in bathhouse cleanups, etc.

  • Assists the Outdoor Recreation Coordinator with planning, coordinating, facilitating, set-up, and clean-up of outdoor recreation programs to include kayaking, paddleboarding, hiking, outdoor movies, special events, team building, environmental education classes, volunteer opportunities, summer camps, and other outdoor opportunities.
  • Helps in the recruit, train, and manage volunteers during recreation programs and events.
  • Promotes and develops cooperative relationships and provides community outreach to various community groups and outside agencies.
  • Provides information about services to individuals and groups about the outdoor recreation programs and services available.
  • Assists with planning and coordinating field trips and summer camp.
  • Performs housekeeping duties, to include but not limited to, assigned office space, assigned space in operations storage shed, cleaning of vehicle, and general cleaning duties within county parks.
