About The Position

Cornell Cooperative Extension of Columbia & Greene Counties strength-based parenting programs help improve the well-being of families through programs designed to provide parents with the knowledge and skills necessary to be effective parents. The Parenting Program Educator II is responsible for delivering evidence-based programs through both in-home and community-based settings. The educator also recruits program participants and completes all required program documentation in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in related field. High school diploma/GED equivalent and 1-year related experience may substitute for an associate’s degree.
  • Experience relevant to the role of the position.
  • Ability to help maintain a welcoming environment for all.
  • Ability to meet the frequent travel requirements associated with this position.
  • A valid NYS driver's license with the ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
  • Program Skills –Ability to deliver and organize assigned programs; complete program required documentation and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to meet program goals and deadlines.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource to others.
  • Maintain confidentiality of program participants and data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others and effectively participate in professional team efforts.
  • Computer Skills - Microsoft Office programs, databases, social media, virtual/video conferencing, internet, email, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree and/or coursework in human services, education, or child development.
  • Ability to speak Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Teach existing parenting educational programs.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource and provide standard responses.
  • Provide participants and others with related educational resources.
  • Extend educational resources and help participants make connections (including referrals) to other Extension programs and community resources.
  • Foster acceptance of the program by maintaining good working relationships with community-based agencies and others to further enhance the program.
  • Represent Cornell Cooperative Extension to the public, community-based agencies, leaders, government officials and Cornell University in a professional manner.
  • May assist in creation of lesson plans to deliver educational programs.
  • May assist in multidisciplinary team efforts to deliver programs.
  • Implement program evaluation as designed.
  • Make recommendations for improvements.
  • Assist in the interpretation of evaluation data to the constituencies.
  • Assist in communication of evaluation results and findings.
  • Assist in the interaction with various constituencies to obtain their evaluation of programs.
  • Coordinate assigned projects and programs.
  • Administer pre and post lesson series surveys.
  • Complete and maintain all required program documentation on participants.
  • Recruit program participants to meet or exceed education goals.
  • Effectively collaborate with, develop, and maintain professional relationships with partner organizations and others.
  • Assist supervisors with public awareness by drafting impact statements, social media posts, web updates, articles for progress/ annual reports, or news releases.
  • May assist in securing grants and funding.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information regarding all program participants.
  • Complete and submit all required reports, records (e.g., incident reports, expense reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
  • In cooperation with Supervisor and/or Executive Director, jointly develop and pursue a professional development plan as a means to increase competencies relative to position accountabilities and to address changes and Association priorities.
  • Collaborate in activities that are in general support of Cornell Cooperative Extension and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Support the Association to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Be familiar with and strive to follow any applicable federal, state, local regulations, Association health and safety policy/procedure/requirement and standard.
  • Act proactively to prevent accidents/injuries and communicate hazards to supervisors when identified.
  • Aware of, and adheres to, established Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Columbia and Greene Counties policies, procedures and Cornell Cooperative Extension Skills for Success.
  • Contribute to the overall success of the organization by performing all assigned duties in a professional, timely and accurate manner.
