About The Position

Saint Peter's is the 5th hospital worldwide to earn Magnet status SIX times in a row. Our team of award-winning nurses is growing, and we are looking for talented, compassionate RNs to join our team. The Parenthood Educator Per Diem will conduct Parent Education Classes. Spanish Speaking Required. Provide department secretary with available dates to teach classes. Reflect pertinent and appropriate review of current literature during Lectures/Discussions. Follow curriculum and be organized. When presenting a Lecture, be articulate and have a clear, understandable voice. Involve participants in program; e.g., questioning of their experience relevant to content examples. Acknowledge participant contributions and responds appropriately to questions. Utilize adult learning/age-related/developmental teaching learning principles and incorporate cultural difference into presentation when appropriate. Collaborate with Program Coordinator to revise, update and improve ongoing programs. Encourage class participants to complete on- line class evaluation form. Maintain a current childbirth education certification.

Requirements

  • Certified in Childbirth Education or area of instruction
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of New Jersey and/or has obtained one of the applicable certifications listed below. Specific certification requirements determined by Parenthood Classes taught.
  • Certified Doula
  • Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator
  • Certified in Childbirth Education
  • Hypnobirthing Certification
  • Certified Prenatal Instructor
  • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Ability to teach groups of 20 - 25 individuals
  • Ability to operate A-V equipment
  • Available to teach on weekends and weekday evenings

Nice To Haves

  • L & D or Mother-Baby experience a plus
