About The Position

Lenawee Community Mental Health Authority is actively recruiting an occasional part-time Parent Support Partner for the Children's Services team. LCMHA provides or manages a full array of services to adults and children with mental health and/or emotional disturbances, persons with substance use disorders, and persons with developmental disabilities. Our mission is to create a path to resilience, recovery, wellness, and self-determination for these individuals. The Parent Support Partner helps families engage in CMH services, meets with families in their homes to work on identified goals, helps parents and caregivers navigate the CMH system and other systems, and assists parents with having their voices heard.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • Familiarity with the public mental health system.
  • Willingness to self-identify as a parent of a child who has received services in the mental health system.
  • Must be (or have been) a day-to-day caregiver for a child who has (or had) an emotional, behavioral and/or mental health challenge; and/or intellectual developmental disabilities.
  • General knowledge of the public mental health system, special education system, juvenile justice system, child welfare system and other community resources.
  • Experience navigating at least one agency serving children.

Responsibilities

  • Engage consumer and/or caregivers with LCMHA services.
  • Support families to identify and learn techniques/strategies for use by parents and caregivers.
  • Provide skilled interventions as part of the treatment plan.
  • Participate in the integration of primary and behavioral health care.
