About The Position

The Parent Liaison works to establish communication, relationships, and maintain mutual understanding among school, community, and home in an in-person and/or virtual environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED required
  • Clearance Certificate required
  • Knowledge of resources available to both the school and community
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with district personnel, schools, the community and families
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between in-person and virtual learning environments
  • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office and website management platforms
  • Knowledge of school safety & security procedures
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and decision-making skills
  • Flexible and able to de-escalate potentially controversial situations
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage and update digital platforms, including websites and social media

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2 years of school district and/or community experience preferred
  • Speaking and reading a second language preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists parents with understanding Title I Part A, ESEA, report cards, learning compacts, assessments, progress reports, Parent Rights & Responsibilities, school improvement, and Flexible Learning Program
  • Assists school with securing important documentation from parents (i.e., school compacts and parent surveys)
  • Coordinates academic-based learning opportunities/workshops for parents at flexible times
  • Coordinates volunteer programs with continuous recruitment and training for volunteers
  • Creates opportunities to involve all parents in the education of their child
  • Develops and maintains a Parent Resource Center, library, or designated parent space within the school
  • Establishes and meets regularly with the Parent Involvement Committee in-person and/or in a virtual environment
  • Plans and coordinates monthly or bi-monthly academic-focused parent workshops in collaboration with the Family Engagement Specialist and Parent Advisory Committee
  • Provides parents with information regarding educational opportunities, community resources, and relevant local/state policies
  • Selects and purchases appropriate materials for parent checkout and provides training on usage
  • Maintains and updates the school website to ensure accurate, current, and accessible information for families and stakeholders
  • Posts announcements, events, newsletters, and compliance-related documents (Title I, parent engagement resources, etc.) in a timely manner
  • Ensures website content aligns with district expectations and accessibility standards
  • Assists with verification and documentation related to student GTID numbers
  • Collaborates with school staff to ensure accuracy of student records in district/state systems
  • Communicates with families as needed to resolve discrepancies or obtain required documentation
  • Manages and updates school social media platforms to promote events, celebrate student success, and communicate important school updates
  • Ensures all posts align with district policies and represent the school positively
  • Supports family engagement through consistent and strategic digital communication
  • Advertises all Title I Parent Involvement activities through a variety of media
  • Calculates and maintains accurate data of parental involvement
  • Communicates school updates via newsletters, Parent Center communications, website, and social media
  • Initiates and responds to parent phone calls, emails, and written correspondence
  • Participates in conferences and supports parents in understanding student progress
  • Serves as liaison between the school and the Title I Office – Family Engagement Specialist
  • Strengthens home-school relationships through proactive communication
  • Collaborates closely with the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) to support family engagement initiatives, coordinate events, and strengthen school-community partnerships
  • Engages in professional learning opportunities
  • Supports sanitation and safety protocols as required
  • Assists staff with safe and orderly student transitions
  • Maintains prompt and regular attendance
  • Performs other duties as assigned
