About The Position

A Parent Liaison fosters and promotes student success by facilitating the combined efforts of schools, families, and communities to address the needs of the whole child.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • AA degree or higher
  • Spanish bilingual/ biliterate required.
  • Ability to deal with students in a positive and confident manner; be fair and consistent when working with a culturally, racially, and economically diverse student population; adapt to change and remain flexible; organize activities; manage student behavior; use good judgment to maintain a safe learning environment.
  • Ability to build relationships and confidence of students and community
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Possess excellent grammar, spelling and punctuation skills.
  • Flexibility in work hours.
  • Recent experience (within the last two years) working in a comprehensive 9-12 high school
  • Valid WA state driver’s license.
  • Immigration Reform and Control Act Requirement: The recommended applicant, if not a current regular employee, will be required to complete an INS I-9 form and must provide proof of employment eligibility.

  • School experience preferred.
  • Experience with working with students and families of diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with counselors, teachers, building and district administration, and other child/family advocates in the coordination and facilitation of building based parent groups and activities as well as district level parent advisory group, parent educational family activities.
  • Support building administration with parent conferences pertaining to attendance and discipline.
  • Interpreting and translating as requested by building principals.
  • Engage community resources on behalf of students and families.
  • Collect and organize data as needed for compliance and accountability.
  • Participates in a variety of activities to enhance personal and professional skills.
  • Performs related tasks consistent with the scope and responsibility of the position.
  • Must have good human relations and interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to keep confidentiality and show initiative when appropriate.
  • Other duties as assigned by the building Principal.
