About The Position

As a Parent Educator, you will provide support and stability to unsupported and isolated families during challenging times. You will help parents connect with community resources and build support networks to maintain family unity and prevent children from entering foster care. By strengthening families before crises occur, you will help them stay together.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's level degree in Human Services or equivalent level of study from an accredited college.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, creative, and compassionate to meet the needs of children.
  • Exercise a high level of confidentiality.
  • Computer skills sufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be 21 years old.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with at least 3 years of driving experience in the U.S. to operate a vehicle on behalf of Bethany.
  • Must pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
  • Must maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate coverage.
  • Must pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries.
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Commitment to Unity.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in child care, with families, and/or social work.
  • Bilingual, English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with families in their homes, teaching and demonstrating homemaking skills and parenting techniques, and utilizing effective resources.
  • Observe family member interactions and redirect them based on parenting needs and observed behaviors of parents and/or children.
  • Provide transportation for parents and children to and from scheduled appointments.
  • Report all instances of child abuse and neglect.
  • Maintain accurate records of family interactions.
  • Report progress and make recommendations to case managers for future services.
  • Immediately report any significant events, changes in family circumstances, or unusual incidents involving family members.
  • Attend all mandated trainings.
  • Fulfill essential job responsibilities which may vary based on the specific needs of each program/department.
  • Participate in Bethany sponsored events as required or requested.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
