Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Must be eighteen (18) years old.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with young behavior disordered children and their families helpful.
  • Must be a graduate of RIP and be able to work 16 to 20 hrs. per week depending on FTE status.
  • Training requirements are established by contracts with the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to include training activities in both Nashville and onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Provides case management and peer support for RIP program participants.
  • Provide an orientation for new families.
  • Make introductory telephone contact prior to assigned family’s entry.
  • Conduct in-depth orientation and “map the territory” during first treatment Visit.
  • Maintain data and required documentation for each assigned family.
  • Maintain organization of documentation and make timely report of required data to Resource Staff & assist in collecting and tabulating data for periodic reports.
  • Teach and model positive behavior management techniques and strategies with both adults and children, utilizing appropriate and congruent facial expressions/body language.
  • Provide all aspects of Case Management to assigned families, including Orientation, Behavior Skills Training (BST) sessions, Home Program development and review, treatment progress review, RIP Strategies that Help, etc.
  • Rate core and individualized Behavior Management Training (BST) sessions.
  • Maintain reliability in the BST rating system
  • Keep family 3-ring binders up to date.
  • Track BST data and activities, training activities, and parent/adult case notes.
  • Help to record and graph home data.
  • Provide feedback to parents/adults following BST sessions.
  • Conduct regular Home Program Review (HPR) discussions with parents/guardians.
  • Present the Eight Strategies That Help for parents/guardians.
  • Give home assignments for each of the Eight Strategies and discuss each of them.
  • Discuss the identification of problem behaviors, and the steps involved in developing an intervention program for problem behaviors.
  • Assist and support parents/guardians in development and implementation of home and community programs.
  • Meet regularly with Resource staff to staff cases.
  • Provide input during planning meetings.
  • Assist in collecting and tabulating data for modular reports.
  • Attend and actively participate in training meetings.
  • Incorporate program changes in a positive manner.
  • Principal presence in program during all program hours.
  • Regularly attend scheduled staff meetings.
  • Attending in-service sessions in Nashville is recommended.
  • Meet time and attendance requirements consistently.
  • Make appropriate use of work time.
  • Assume special assignments as determined by Resource Consultants or Program Coordinator.
  • Work with and assist volunteers, RIP Expansion trainees, interns, and practicum students.
  • Assist in informing tours about the program.
  • Participate in special RIP presentations, as requested.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with referral sources, families and other community members as a representative of the Regional Intervention Program.
