Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Education or related field
  • Experience working with parents and young children.
  • Have experience with families with diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
  • Have experience working in educational, social services, or family literacy setting.

  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing both in English/ Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Implement designated parenting education curriculum to foster the acquisition of parenting skills for students.
  • Work with parents to foster parent involvement.
  • Design lessons plans to meet parent’s needs and interests.
  • Maintain attendance records of parent educator classes.
  • Encourage families to attend regularly and retain in the program a sufficient time to meet goals.
  • Assist in the screening and preparation of children and parents to participate in programs and activities and services.
  • Assist with the identification and recruitment of the families most needed in the program.
  • Work closely with schools and community agencies to identify eligible families.
  • Ensure high standards ethics by maintaining high standards for family confidentiality.
  • Provides referrals to other agencies for their families as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with other agencies to enhance services with families.
  • Design and facilitate parent and child interactive activities with early childhood education staff.
  • Attend training relating to professional growth.
  • Maintain knowledge of current parent education practices.
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings to ensure well-coordinated and effective delivery of projects services.
  • Make presentations to promote the program to community agencies, donors, and other entities, and organize tours.
  • Prepare monthly reports for Local Chapter and National - including narrative and highlights.
  • Assist with the preparation of the United Way reports, as required.
  • Able to travel for business related activities.
  • Performs other duties as signed.
  • Cooperate with in-house monitoring and independent evaluation of the program.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and provide documentation regarding progress by maintaining accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulation.
  • Provide training to staff to develop their skills to work with parents and children.
  • Maintain records of all staff development activities.
  • Attend business meetings as directed by the Program Manager.
  • Must be willing to travel by district and state trainings/conferences.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing both in English/ Spanish.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Communicate and promote high expectation levels for staff and students.
  • Establish and maintain an environment which is conductive to positive staff moral and directed towards achievement of the program mission.
  • Mediate and facilitate effective resolution of conflicts.
  • Foster collegiality and team building among program staff.
  • Assist in the recruitment, selection, and retention of staff with the skills necessary to communicate with the target population.
  • Oversee performance of assigned staff and conduct annual evaluations.
