About The Position

Southern Seven Health Department is seeking a Parent Coordinator for the Egyptian Head Start in Tamms, Illinois. Requirements

  • Must be at least nineteen years of age.
  • Bachelors Degree in Social Work or in an approved related field OR
  • Associates Degree in Social Work or in an approved related field OR
  • Associates Degree in a non-social work related field with a Family Service credential

Responsibilities

  • Completes Family Assessment and assists families with setting goals during the Family Partnership Agreement, with periodic follow-up to measure progress.
  • Works with families to obtain necessary information, including health records, consent forms, and follow-up treatment details.
  • Conducts home visits with families as needed.
  • Documents all case management activities in an online database and ensures children's files are up-to-date according to program policies.
  • Assists families with advocacy, such as attending IEP/IFSP meetings and parent meetings.
  • Participates in attendance analysis meetings and collaborates with the Teaching Team to address attendance issues and set attendance agreements with families.
  • Facilitates monthly parent meetings and encourages parent, family, and community engagement.
  • Organizes recruitment activities for children and families to introduce them to the program.
  • Completes face-to-face intakes, including income verification for program applicants.
  • Completes and submits required documentation and reports according to the Activity Calendar.
  • Develops partnerships with parents and caregivers, encouraging active involvement in their child's Head Start experience.
  • Maintains knowledge of community resources, refers families for needed services, and advocates for them in securing services.
  • Attends interagency/community meetings to share information about Head Start services and stay updated on available resources.
  • Assists families with children's transitions into the program, between Early Head Start and Head Start, and from Head Start to Kindergarten.
  • Participates in staff meetings, center activities, parent coordinator meetings, and staff development.
  • Maintains child, family, and employee confidentiality.
  • Follows procedures for reporting suspected child abuse and neglect as a Mandated Reporter.
  • Participates in federal and annual program reviews.
  • Carries out best practices for safety procedures concerning children, staff, families, and community individuals, and assesses current practices for improvement.
  • Participates in activities and attitudes that promote positive public relations and a positive image for the program and agency.
  • Complies with HIPAA requirements regarding policies and procedures.
  • Reports potential problems and concerns to the Site Supervisor.
