About The Position

Determines eligibility for applicants requesting ADA paratransit services. This recruitment will be used to establish an open competitive and promotional eligibility list that may be used to fill this vacancy and vacancies occurring in this classification for a minimum period of six (6) months. All communication with applicants will be via email. Applicants must provide a current and valid email address when applying. Requirements

  • Equivalent to two (2) years of college level coursework and three (3) years' experience in medical, rehabilitation or a closely related field.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class C driver's license at time of application.
  • Employment with the Regional Transportation Commission in this position is contingent upon the results of a comprehensive background investigation, including qualifying education/experience verification, social security trace, criminal history records review, and driving history record check.

  • Ability to apply professional knowledge of effects impacting functional ability relating to medical conditions/disabilities
  • Demonstrates a basic basic level of proficiency with standard office productivity software and department-specific applications to complete assigned tasks
  • Ability to perform assigned duties by prioritizing workload, maintaining files/records, and meet deadlines with minimal assistance
  • Demonstrated experience communicating to customers, co-workers, and supervisors in a professional manner both in written and verbal context
  • Ability to make eligibility determinations following established principles, practices and standards of ADA criteria as it relates to public transportation

Responsibilities

  • Determines eligibility for applicants requesting ADA paratransit services.
  • Analyzes medical terminology, medical conditions and/or disabilities as they correlate to physical or cognitive functional capacity through in-person evaluation.
  • Determines eligibility through a thorough understanding of the applicant's functional capabilities, interpretation of the regulatory guidelines of the ADA, policies, practices and procedures.
  • Review and audit physical and cognitive eligibility determination made by contractor to ensure compliance.
  • Audit existing certification clients by analyzing ridership reports to determine client's functional abilities and ensure client's eligibility is correctly assigned.
  • Review professional verification data from medical professionals to make eligibility determinations and ensure client files are correctly coded.
  • Participates in unit and agency outreach events.
  • Conducts case management duties through composition and maintenance of documentation, concerning actions taken and referrals.
  • Operates a variety of office equipment, to include computers and associated software.
  • Prepares, maintains and updates system data and produces custom and formatted reports.
  • Provides information and assistance to internal and external customers as required.
  • Maintains client confidentiality as it relates to HIPAA regulations.
  • All other duties as assigned.
