About The Position

The Rite of Passage Team is seeking a passionate advocate to join their mission to improve the lives of youth as a Paraprofessional at The Arkansas Juvenile Assessment and Treatment Center (AJATC) in Bryant, Arkansas. AJATC is a secure residential program for at-risk male and female youth, situated on 110 acres near Little Rock, AR. The center provides a normalized high school experience in a safe environment, offering opportunities for positive change and growth for both students and staff. The campus includes residential dormitories, an on-site school and library, a vocational training program, a chapel, a gymnasium, medical facilities, and an outdoor recreation area. The role offers a unique opportunity to create a positive, safe, and supportive environment for youth, contributing to their development into successful adults, and provides career growth opportunities and self-fulfillment.

Requirements

• Possess an Associate’s Degree OR Have obtained an active Parapro Certification
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Be able to pass a criminal background check, drug, physical, and TB test
• Be able to pass a search of the child and adult abuse central registry
• Must meet the requirements to become an ROP eligible driver, including having a valid Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Works as an active team member of the Education Department, providing instructional services to students.
• Takes direction from certified staff to deliver and assist in instruction of classes.
• Implements effective classroom management strategies.
• Conduct small group instruction, as well as individual instruction to students, as necessary.
• Track attendance.
• Maintain weekly grades.
• Ensure student grades are available and posted.
