About The Position

This position is Full-Time, scheduled for 35 hours per week. Phoenix Academy, located in High Point, N.C., opened in 1998 and serves students in K-12. At Phoenix, you can connect passion with purpose. The K-12 building allows opportunities to grow with children and obtain exposure to all different grade levels and experiences. It offers a safe learning environment with fobs for entrances, CPI crisis training, glass films, panic buttons, safety drills, Say Something, a school-wide behavior recognition program, and a safety team. Phoenix Academy was recently recognized by local news for its OCS program. The academy promotes from within whenever possible and offers an NHA Dean Prep program to prepare employees who want to explore leadership. They also provide new employee and beginning teacher professional development, Dean coaching, and Mentor/Mentee programs for beginning teachers and new employees.

Requirements

  • Must meet state requirements for being a Title 1 paraprofessional.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and/or mathematics.
  • Understanding of and capability to navigate technical systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a school or with school-age children.

Responsibilities

  • Assess student abilities and provide instructional assistance for students in need of academic intervention through 1:1 or group workshops as directed by the classroom teacher and designated instructional leader.
  • Commit to educating the whole student – academically, morally, and socially.
  • Implement result-driven curriculum to achieve significant growth from fall to spring testing.
  • Attend professional development and articulation meetings with classroom teachers and parents as required.
