About The Position

PAID CREDENTIALS - Eliminating upfront costs for necessary clearances & TB screening! The hourly Special Education Paraprofessional pay rate to work on assignment with Camp Hill School District is $18.00/hour. 5 days of paid time off (PTO) - prorated based on date of hire. Special Education Paraprofessionals may support students in one of the following areas: Autistic, Emotional, Instructional, Learning, and Life Skills Support. OPENINGS: Elementary Life Skills Support Paraprofessional Position at Hoover Elementary School (420 South 24th Street; Camp Hill, PA 17011) – Grades K-2. Work hours: 7:50 AM-3:20 PM on all student and PL days. Work will be in a classroom with higher need students and will provide behavioral support in the classroom and instruction in language acquisition. The District will support training with AAC devices. Some push-in support to specials. Employees will need to assist students with toileting. Materials, including gloves and wipes, will be provided. Will need to be Safe Crisis Management trained.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required.
  • For Title I positions - Must pass for "highly qualified" as mandated by NCLB
  • PA Child Abuse (Act 151) Clearance

  • Education Documentation - Diploma OR Official Transcripts

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years post secondary education or higher - preferred
  • Prior public-school experience and/or working with school-aged children in a licensed, certified, or registered provider setting - preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide instructional, behavioral, and/or physical support to individual students or small groups, including on-task prompting, social skills development, and self-care assistance.
  • Support students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and 504 Plans by implementing accommodations and strategies as directed.
  • Reinforce learning concepts, classroom instruction, and skill development to help students achieve their educational goals.
  • Work one-on-one or in small groups to provide targeted academic and behavioral support.
  • Assist students in developing organizational, communication, problem-solving, and independent living skills.
  • Guide students through classroom activities, monitor participation and progress, and provide feedback to instructional staff.
  • Promote positive student behavior and help maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, specialists, and school administrators to support student success.
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival/dismissal, transitions, and other non-instructional school activities.
  • Foster positive relationships with students while encouraging independence, confidence, and social-emotional growth.
