About The Position

The Lowell Community Charter Public School (LCCPS) is seeking a Paraprofessional to support young students in class with learning English and making appropriate grade level growth. LCCPS is a vibrant community of 815 K1-8 grade students, families, and staff, proud to serve the diverse communities of Lowell. Requirements

  • Associate's degree or Para Pro Test
  • Ability to work effectively with students and staff
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, in both English and Portuguese
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents
  • Knowledge of current educational practices

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in public education in an urban setting, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with set up of classroom and prepare materials for specialized instructional units
  • Assist teacher in maintaining discipline and other functions
  • Plan, develop and implement class curriculum approved by the teacher
  • Provide instructional support services under the supervision of the teacher
  • Provide corrective feedback to students and re-teach as necessary
  • Serve as mentor to the students
  • Communicate, collaborate and cooperate with colleagues, supervisors and students
  • Support individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning activities
  • Assist instructional personnel with the development and presentation of learning materials
  • Assist in administering pre- and post-testing
  • Conduct parental involvement activities
  • May be asked to support students in unified arts classes (Art, Music, World Cultures, PE and Library)
  • Complete written reports and assigned tasks related to the functions
  • Participate in meetings as requested
  • Assist with assessments, data collection, behavior plans and transitions.
  • May be asked to attend curriculum meetings and classroom team meetings.
  • Follow the schedule provided by the supervising teacher
  • Cover classes when needed.
  • Complete additional tasks assigned.
