Paraprofessional, Mainstream (Long Term Substitute)
About The Position
Lowell Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for a Long Term Substitute position in a mainstream classroom. This role involves assisting the classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students with and without special needs, including English Language Learners (ELL). Responsibilities include supporting students with physical transitions, assisting during activities like field trips and drills, and helping with classroom routines such as snack time, hygiene, and clean-up. The paraprofessional will also contribute to maintaining a healthy and safe classroom environment and perform other duties as assigned by the building principal. For Health positions, duties may include feeding, changing diapers, and toileting children.
Requirements
- Successfully passed the Paraprofessional test, OR 48 college credits or more, OR a Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
- Experience with the appropriate age group.

Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students.
- Implement concrete learning activities that meet the varied developmental needs of students with and without special needs, including ELL students.
- Assist classroom teacher in getting students into and out of buildings and classrooms, which may include lifting and carrying students.
- Assist teacher during activities such as field trips and emergency drills.
- Assist teacher with classroom routines such as snack, washing dishes, clean-up, bathroom, and other similar activities.
- Assist teacher in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children.
- Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
- For HEALTH positions: position will include feeding, changing diapers and toileting children.
