About The Position
Lowell Public Schools is seeking a Paraprofessional for a Kindergarten Health Long Term Substitute position in Lowell, Massachusetts. This role involves assisting the classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students, including those with special needs and English Language Learners. The paraprofessional will support students in transitioning within the building and classroom, which may involve lifting and carrying. Responsibilities also include assisting during activities like field trips and emergency drills, supporting classroom routines (snack, cleanup, bathroom), and maintaining a healthy and safe environment. For Health positions, specific duties include feeding, changing diapers, and toileting children.
Requirements
- Successfully passed the Paraprofessional test, OR 48 college credits or more, OR a Bachelor's Degree.
- Experience with the appropriate age group.

Responsibilities
- Assist classroom teacher in providing developmentally appropriate activities for students.
- Implement concrete learning activities that meet the varied developmental needs of students with and without special needs.
- Work with ELL students.
- Assist classroom teacher in getting students into and out of the buildings and classrooms.
- Assist teacher during activities such as field trips and emergency drills.
- Assist teacher with classroom routines such as snack, washing dishes, clean-up, bathroom and other similar activities.
- Assist teacher in maintaining a healthy and safe environment for children.
- Perform other tasks and assume responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
- Feeding, changing diapers and toileting children (for Health positions).
