About The Position

The Paraprofessional supports classroom instruction and student supervision under the direct supervision of a certified teacher, contributing to a structured, safe, and productive learning environment. The position is at Compass Academy. The role may be part-time or full-time and is non-exempt.

Requirements

• Meet one of the following educational requirements under the Michigan Paraprofessional Standards (ESEA Title I): completion of at least 60 semester credit hours at an accredited college or university; an associate's degree or higher; or a passing score on an approved formal academic assessment (ETS ParaPro Assessment minimum 460; SAT 480+ EBRW and 530+ Math; or Michigan Basic Skills Exam).
• Satisfactory criminal background check.
• Be able to lift, bend, stoop, squat, and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in delivering instruction and managing classroom routines.
• Provide individual or small-group tutoring and academic support under teacher direction.
• Support student behavior management in the classroom, hallways, cafeteria, and during transitions.
• Assist with classroom preparation, materials, and field trip coordination.
• Support bilingual communication and translation for students and families as applicable.
• Attend staff meetings and required professional development sessions.
