About The Position

Under the direction of the school principal, this role plans and provides appropriate learning experiences for students in designated subject areas such as math and reading. The position aims to foster an environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development of students to ensure their success. Responsibilities include supervising students in various school settings, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, and communicating with students, parents, staff, and the community. The role involves developing, selecting, and modifying instructional plans and materials to meet diverse student needs, maintaining appropriate records, and ensuring the proper use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years post-secondary education (minimum of 60 semester credits/90 quarter college credits); or Pass an academic assessment that demonstrates the knowledge of and ability to assist in the instruction of reading and math
  • Montana Driver’s license or the ability to obtain license within three months of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Performs instructional activities as planned, assigned and organized by professional staff for individual and/or small groups of students.
  • Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the needs, interests and abilities of individuals to ensure student success.
  • On a regular and consistent basis, meets and instructs assigned students.
  • Creates a classroom environment that provides for student involvement in the learning process and enables each student to achieve learning objectives.
  • Provides an instructional program to meet the needs of all students.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Establishes learning objectives consistent with appraisal of student needs, requirements of BSD curriculum framework, and knowledge of human growth and development.
  • Plans for and utilizes instructional methods, resources and evaluation techniques which motivate and enable each student to achieve learning objectives.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law, BSD policy and administrative regulation.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Establishes relationships with colleagues, students, parents and community which reflect recognition of and respect for every individual.
  • Participates in school management and shares responsibility for the total school program.
  • Be in attendance at parent-teacher meetings when applicable to provide updates regarding progress, attitude, and the student’s effort.
  • Consult with teachers when appropriate and maintain updated lesson plans for all core teachers.
  • Attend academic committee meetings as requested by the Building Principal.
  • Consult with teachers regarding academic concerns.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
