About The Position

Valley View Innovation School, a PK-8 school serving PK-6, specializes in supporting students identified as gifted and talented or ready for advanced and accelerated learning. The school's vision is for each student to develop curiosity, discover interests, and grow in their love of learning by providing a welcoming, joyful, safe, and supportive environment that removes barriers and creates personal learning pathways. Projects in six Immersion Studios (robotics, technology, culinary arts, art, music, and science) incorporate multiple standards and build cross-curricular connections. This position assists a teacher in supervising and instructing students aged 3-5, reinforcing positive behavior and life skills, implementing curriculum, maintaining documentation, and managing student health or special needs. Experience and education in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Elementary Education are required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 0-2 years' experience working with children in a school setting.
  • Must have Early Childhood Teacher qualifications through the Department of Human Services, Child Care Licensing.
  • Two 3-credit college semester hours in Early Childhood Education: one class either Introduction to Early Childhood (ECE101) or Guidance Strategies (ECE103), and the second must be Infant and Toddler Theory and Practice (ECE 111). Expanding Quality in Infants and Toddlers (EQIT) is also acceptable.
  • Must maintain appropriate PDIS credential levels.
  • Must participate in continued ECE learning opportunities.
  • A combination of formal education and professional development to reach ECT qualifications in two years of employment.
  • Mandatory Title IX training must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • AA Degree or have passed State Approved Assessment.
  • Applicants currently enrolled or attending classes in Early Childhood Education will also be considered.
  • Infant Nursery Supervisor Qualified preferred.
  • May require one or more of the following skills: basic English, grammar, spelling, writing, word processing, keyboarding, basic computer skills, communication, and/or foreign language.
  • May require operating knowledge of general office equipment and general health care procedures.
  • May also require training in computers or bilingual education, languages, and/or cultures.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Engage students in activities, utilizing educational materials and equipment.
  • Reinforce positive life skills and socialization.
  • Support parents at school functions and provide periodic student progress information.
  • Create a positive, nurturing, and safe child-centered environment.
  • Work closely with students to support their health care needs, including administering first aid, caring for bathroom needs, dispensing medication, assisting with medical needs, executing health care directives, and maintaining health records.
  • Participate in the supervision and overall health and well-being of all students in the classroom.
  • Participate in all required and appropriate in-services, building and department meetings, training, and/or school functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
