The Paraprofessional (Special Education)- Self-Contained helps students navigate everyday challenges by developing and aiding students’ daily living, motor and behavioral skills, including but not limited to feeding and toileting. This role provides one-on-one support to students who may be medically fragile and have severe disabilities. Under the direction of a Special Education teacher, the paraprofessional assists in the supervision and instruction of special education students in specific classes such as Diagnostic Kindergarten/1st Grade, Academic Support, Behavior Support, and Essential Elements. This role also involves data collection and Medicaid documentation. To be successful, the incumbent must demonstrate a high level of patience and the ability to maintain a calm and nurturing demeanor in high-stress situations.
