About The Position

The JeffSTAT Paramedic is primarily responsible for providing care to patients during inter-facility and emergency transports following JeffSTAT's predetermined treatment protocols. The JeffSTAT Paramedic is an ambassador of Thomas Jefferson Hospital (TJH), as he or she is often the first Jefferson healthcare delivery team member with whom the patient and their family will have contact.

Requirements

  • Field paramedic experience, minimum 5000 hours, in a critical care transport program or 911 ALS ambulance service.
  • Experienced and proficient in performing advanced life support skills such as intubation, IV insertion, medication administration, EKG interpretation, and chest decompression.
  • Current medical command in good standing with the Philadelphia EMS Office or another region in Pennsylvania, NJ or DE.
  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Intubation, IV insertion, medication administration, EKG interpretation, and chest decompression, Mechanical cardiac assist devices (IABP, ECMO, VAD, Impella), external ventricular devices (EVD), Invasive patient monitoring devices (Arterial line, SWAN Gantz, CVP).
  • Licenses and Certifications: ABLS - Advanced Burn Life Support - American Burn Association Within 180 Days
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support - American Heart Association
  • ATLS-Audit - Advanced Trauma Life Support Audit Only - American College of Surgeons Within 180 Days or ATCN - Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses - Society of Trauma Nurses Within 180 Days or TPATC - Transport Provider Advanced Trauma Care - Air and Surface Transport Nurses Association Within 180 Days
  • BLS - Basic Life Support AHA - American Heart Association
  • FP-C - Certified Flight Paramedic - Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification Within 180 Days
  • FP-C - Certified Flight Paramedic - Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification Within 2 Years or CCP-C - Certified Critical Care Paramedic - Board for Critical Care Transport Paramedic Certification Within 2 Years Within 180 Days
  • EMT - Paramedic - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support - American Heart Association
  • PHTLS - Prehospital Trauma Life Support - National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians Within 180 Days
  • ASLS - Advance Stroke Life Support - American Heart Association Within 180 Days
