The Paramedic is a licensed professional who provides direct patient care and transport in the prehospital setting, according to approved EMS protocols and under the direction of the Base Hospital Medical Control.

Requirements

• Hazardous Materials training to the First Responder Operations Level prior to the conclusion of department orientation
• Currently licensed by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority as a Paramedic
• Sierra Sacramento Valley Emergency Medical Services accreditation within 45 days of hire unless an extension is granted by the issuing authority
• Current CPR recognition
• Current ACLS recognition
• Current PALS or Handtevy Prehospital Pediatric Provider recognition within 6 months of hire
• PHTLS within 6 months of hire
• ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 700 within 6 months of hire
• California driver's license with ambulance drivers’ certificate to include the medical exam certificate.
• Eligible to be insured under the Medical Center’s Liability Policy with DMV Report (and minimum age 21)
• Must demonstrate technical competence, professional clinical judgment, communication skills and sensitivity for the patient and family in crisis.
• Must be able to work effectively with peers, other departments, first responders and the public using good interpersonal skills, discretion and diplomacy.
• Must be able to fulfill the essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct patient care and transport in the prehospital setting, according to approved EMS protocols and under the direction of the Base Hospital Medical Control.
