Gundersen Health System Ambulance is seeking a casual on-call Paramedic for its Sparta and Tomah ambulance teams. The teams provide advanced pre-hospital patient care across an area of nearly 1,000 square miles in Iowa and Wisconsin, including emergency response and inter-facility medical services 24 hours a day. The Paramedic responds to, treats, and transports patients in emergency and non-emergency settings. As an ambulance crew member, the Paramedic works in rural 911, paramedic intercept, and interfacility transfer environments, including transfers for Gundersen Critical Access hospitals and other hospitals in the region. The role provides Paramedic-level clinical care to patients of all ages according to established policies, protocols, and standards under Gundersen Health System medical direction. This is a non-benefit-eligible casual on-call position requiring at least 24 hours of open shifts each month. Sparta follows a 24-on/72-off schedule. Tomah offers self-scheduling flexibility with 12-, 24-, or 48-hour schedules, or a traditional 24/48 schedule, based on scheduling preference. Employees are located at the ambulance station during scheduled shifts. Following New Employee Orientation, the employee will orient to the site-specific bay and rigs and complete 10 12-hour ride-along shifts with a Field Training Officer. Internal training will be provided for Incident Command System and Certified Emergency Vehicle Operation. Starting pay is $24.36 per hour and up, based on years of experience. The role offers access to professional and career development, flexible schedules, modern medical and ambulance equipment, continuous medical control by emergency and specialty physicians, and clinical benchmarks supporting patient care quality.
