About The Position

Emergency Medical Care Inc. (EMC) is seeking Primary Care Paramedics and Advanced Care Paramedics. EMC, a subsidiary of Medavie Health Services (MHS), manages and operates ground ambulance, air medical transport, and medical communications in Nova Scotia. They also manage TeleHealth/811 medical communications for Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. EMC serves all communities in Nova Scotia with a fleet of over 180 ambulances and support vehicles operating from more than 60 stations, responding to over 165,000 calls annually. The EHS Operations LifeFlight program provides critical care transport via helicopter, fixed-wing, or ground ambulance. Paramedics in Nova Scotia also participate in various programs like community-based paramedic programs, collaborative emergency centres, and emergency preparedness and special operations. Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited paramedic program.
  • Eligible for registration with the Nova Scotia Regulator of Paramedicine.
  • A NS Class 4 Driver's License or equivalent that authorizes you to drive an ambulance.
  • A copy of your five-year driving abstract dated within 90 days of application deadline.
  • Criminal background check and vulnerable sector search dated within 90 days of application deadline.
  • Proof of successful paramedic physical abilities testing (PC-PAT/OPPAT) that has been completed in the last 12 months.
  • CEVO ® 4 or 5 - online driving safety course.
  • Resume, Cover Letter and 3 References Available.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to emergency (911) and non-emergency (hospital transfers) medical calls.
  • Participate in various programs such as community-based paramedic programs, collaborative emergency centres, and emergency preparedness and special operations.
