About The Position

Paramedic, Emergency Department. PRN/OCC, Variable Hours and Shifts. Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville, Tennessee is part of Covenant Health, East Tennessee’s largest nonprofit health system and a Becker’s “Top 150 Places to Work in Healthcare.” Fully accredited by the Joint Commission, Cumberland Medical Center is an acute care hospital offering all private patient rooms as well as comprehensive care including cardiology, orthopedics, maternity, cancer treatment, and wound care. The hospital features emergency and critical care, surgical suites, and specialized programs such as imaging, cardiac rehab, sleep disorder care, and hyperbaric medicine, all in a family-oriented environment focused on exceptional patient care. Provide patient care as assigned, under the direction of a registered nurse (RN) or a physician.

Requirements

  • One (1) year of continuous experience as an EMT-P.
  • Must have and maintain paramedic licensure with the State of Tennessee.
  • CPR required.

Responsibilities

  • Practices in compliance with regulatory standards and adheres to hospital policy and procedures in the performance of duties.
  • Performs ongoing patient observations per patient acuity.
  • Recognizes, responds and reports changes in patient condition to RN.
  • Recognizes need for interventions and implements appropriate processes to meet patients age specific needs while under the direction of an RN
  • Performs, prioritizes and documents patient care tasks with education and competency documented. Refer to Covenant Health Delegation Grid.
  • Accurately follows the plan of care and pertinent medical orders in collaboration and under direction of RN.
  • Facilitates timely physician evaluation and intervention.
  • Participates in unit specific quality assurance activities as requested.
  • Demonstrates principles of infection control; collaborates with infection control nurse to ensure safety of patients, visitors, and personnel.
  • Assists in orienting new employees or students to unit routines.
  • Demonstrates competence in performing critical skills to include appropriate delivery of care according to the age-specific needs of the population served.
  • Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
