About The Position

Paramedic, Full Time Days at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center- Emergency Dept. We are looking for positive, self-motivated, engaged and excited for growth individuals to join our team. This is a 38 bed Emergency Department that sees on average 160 patients a day that present with various acuities. We are a primary Stroke and Stemi receiving facility that is able to intervene and administer thrombolytics. There are two helicopter pads on campus for utilization. The department has 5 PODs, and patients are assigned based on acuity. We have a Behavioral Health Pod. Charge nurses, ED Flow Coordinators, Paramedics, ED Techs, PCTs, Mental Health Technicians and Unit Secretaries work in close collaboration with the ED Providers to provide exceptional care. All staff members must have a BLS to work in this unit. RN’s must have ACLS and PALS required. NIH highly preferred, must obtain within the allotted timeframe.

  • Skill and ability in Microsoft Office applications.
  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support BLS Certification Upon Hire Required
  • ACLS Upon Hire Required
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Paramedics new to specialty will complete applicable certifications within 6 months of start date within 120 Days Required
  • Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia and National Registry Preferred

Nice To Haves

  • NIH highly preferred, must obtain within allotted timeframe.
  • LP - Licensed Paramedic Current certification as a Paramedic in the State of Georgia and National Registry Preferred
  • 1 year of experience as a Paramedic Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Facilitating age-appropriate, culturally and ethnically sensitive care, maintaining a safe environment, educating patients and their families, collecting information, communicating effectively, and utilizing technology.
  • Participating in the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the delivery of health care services and task.
  • Patient advocacy, teaching, performance improvement, and the oversight of unlicensed personnel.
  • Must have a working knowledge of intramuscular, sublingual, oral, rectal, nebulizers, intravenous, and intravenous push medications-effect, side effects, drug to drug interaction and anaphylaxis protocol.
  • Working knowledge of venous blood sampling, and cardiac monitor knowledge.
  • Working knowledge of the body’s systems to include neurological, respiratory, cardiac, gastrointestinal, primary and secondary trauma assessment.
  • Must have strong customer service, interpersonal skills and be able to work with a team.
  • Responsible for providing safe patient care with an understanding and awareness of age-appropriate and culturally aware needs.
  • Able to assess a patient's needs and respond to direction by the Professional Registered Nurse and Physician.
  • Perform EKG'S
  • Perform Foley catheters
  • Start IV'S, IO'S & draw blood.
  • Transport patients to other departments.
  • May be required to monitor patients for arrhythmias and report abnormal rhythms and changes immediately to Charge Nurse and Nurse.
